Confident Communication Therapy provides personalized speech therapy services for individuals of all ages.

In-Person Therapy: Available to the Minneapolis and surrounding area. Services provided in the home or in the community.

Teletherapy: Available to individuals living ANYWHERE in Minnesota or Arizona. Are you living in a rural area with limited access to services? Don’t have the time in your busy schedule to drive to and from a clinic? Teletherapy is a great option!

Private-Pay: At this time, we do not take insurance. We can provide you with a Super Bill.

Articulation: An individual’s ability to produce certain sounds, like “th” or “s”

Phonology: A pattern of errors in an individual’s speech that persist beyond an appropriate age. Some examples of these patterns:

  • Omitting sounds at the end of words (i.e., saying “cu” for “cup)

  • Gliding /r/ sounds (i.e., saying “"wock” for “rock”)

  • Producing a back sound in the front of the mouth (i.e., saying “tup” for “cup”).

Fluency: Refers to the continuity, smoothness, rate, and effort of an individual’s speech. Stuttering is the most common fluency disorder. An individual may have repetition of sounds, syllables, or words (i.e. c-c-car), prolongation (i.e., sssssomtimes), or blocks in their speech.

What is Speech Therapy?

Speech therapy is a form of specialized therapy aimed at improving communication skills, including speech, language, and cognitive-communication skills. It is provided by a trained speech-language pathologist (SLP) and can benefit individuals of all ages, from birth to seniors.

Language

Expressive Language: An individuals ability to express their own thoughts and ideas by joining words and building sentences with correct grammar and vocabulary, This may be verbal, gestural, or augmentative (AAC)!

Receptive Language: An individuals ability to understand and process information, including following directions, answering questions, etc.

Aphasia: A language disorder that affects a persons ability to communicate due to damage to the brain’s language centers. It can be caused by stroke, head trauma, brain mass, or neurogenerative disorders. It can affect individuals of all ages.

Cognition

Individuals may have difficulties with cognitive-communicative skills, including memory, attention, problem solving, and executive functioning (initiation of tasks, planning, organization, managing time, working memory, self-monitoring, etc.). These skills are all essential for success with every day tasks at home and in school.

Individuals may have difficulties or discomfort when swallowing, making it hard for to eat or drink.

It can be caused by a variety of conditions, such as neurological (like stroke or Parkinson’s), structural issues (like tumors or strictures), or muscular problems (like muscular dystrophy).
